Since 1981, Polysec has been manufacturing industry-leading SIPs panels in Worcester. Short for ‘Structural Insulated Panels,' SIPs are a composite building material that takes the form of a panel of injected polyurethane sandwiched between two structural boards. The latter two components form the external facing items, while the former is an insulating foam core.

Our SIPs use OSBs (Oriented Strand Boards) for the external facings, while the inner foam insulation core is made from high-performance rigid polyurethane foam (PUR).
During the manufacturing process, the inner foam cores are moulded in-situ with the OSBs, providing maximum bonding strength and insulation properties. Once completed, the result is a highly rigid SIP that is ready to install in virtually any application.
Technical details
Each SIP produced by Polysec contains 11 mm thick OSBs and sandwiched together between PUR foam. The rigid foam core is a two-component type liquid foam that gets injected with a target density of 40 to 44 kilograms per cubic metre.
The foam is environmentally-friendly as it does not have CFCs or HCFCs, plus it has an Ozone Depletion Potential of zero.
Polysec manufactures a range of SIPs panels in Worcester to the following sizes, subject to OSB3 supply dimensions:
Panel width of approximately 1,220 mm;
Panel length of approximately 2,440 mm (or 5,000 mm for single facing SIPs);
An overall panel thickness of either 75 mm, 100 mm, or 125 mm;
50 mm deep rebate to the perimeter.
75 mm & 100 mm SIP splines are also available 100 mm and 125 mm panels respectively.
